God's heart is for the fatherless and orphan children are closest to His heart. The orphans in Korea face harsh stigma in a society that places high esteem on family ties, prestige and education. In particular, once high school graduates age out of the system, they have to leave the orphanage and end up encountering further hardships trying to make it on their own.
I was once an orphan child at Sung No Won Orphanage, then, later adopted to the USA. God set me in a family. He showed me through my adoptive parents what it feels like to be loved, to be part of a family and to experience what a home feels like. I want to show the same to these children.. for them to know and feel the same comforts and stability and security of having a home and family.
The purpose of this home will be to offer a refuge, a safe, open and free space for Korean orphans to come be themselves and experience a home environment and family. The home will be a warm, nurturing environment for them to them to come over regularly for dinners and spend time hanging out together cooking, playing board games, making art, watching TV/movies, celebrating birthdays and holidays...
God rescued me, set me in a family, healed and delivered me from the orphan spirit. He brought me back to Korea in 2007, to the same orphanage where I lived as a child so to that I can now minister this same message of hope to the children there. Being a consistent person in the children's lives for over 10 years and establishing deep bonds of trust with them has shown them God's covenant, unfailing, HESED LOVE. That even though they have been forsaken by their mother and father, even despite society discriminating harshly against them... their Heavenly Father knows them so intimately and wants them to know they are never alone. Even if they don't have the family or status or riches here on earth.. this HESED HOME will be a small glimpse of the extravagant mansion waiting for them in their heavenly home.
